Access Statement

Introduction

 

Ladythorne House is a grade II listed Building built in 1721.  Fields and trees surround us with the North Sea coast 5mins drive away. 

We have 3 guest rooms with en-suite or private facilities, all on the first floor.

Only an outline can be provided in this statement so by calling or e-mailing us we can answer specific questions.

 

Pre-arrival

 

We have a short driveway off a narrow country lane approximately 1ml off the A1.

Our location is deeply rural and suited to guests travelling by car, bicycle or foot.

The nearest shops are in Tweedmouth (5 miles away).

The nearest filling station is South of us, on the corner of the junction of Holy Island (4mls away).

The bus stop is on the A1 (1ml away).  The buses run approximately hourly (we have timetables for them) and    there is a late night service from Berwick upon tweed (6 miles away) on a Friday and Saturday night during        the summer.

The nearest railway station is in Berwick. Taxis are available from the station and can be booked in    advance.

We have contact information for several taxi companies in the area.

We can accommodate a guide dog if necessary.

Arrival and Car Parking

 

Please let us know an approximate time of arrival so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.

Guest can arrive from 10.00a.m.  If the room is not yet available the bags can be left and we have public facilities available. We also offer a welcome hot/cold drink.

Parking is at the side of the house and there are three steps down to the terrace at the front of the house. 

There are no marked spaces but ample room for all cars.

      We offer assistance with luggage.

 

Main entrance

 

There are two steps of 8inches up to the front double doors.

      The front doors are not locked but please ring the bell on arrival.

 

Guest Accommodation – Public Areas

 

Inside the front entrance is a small porch with a door leading to a hallway of the same width. A seat is available in the hallway.

The guests sitting room is the door to the right of the hallway.

The dining room is through the door on the left at the bottom of the main stairs.

There are ten steps with banister to the first landing.

There are a further ten steps with banister to the first floor.

There are three bedrooms on the first floor all with en-suite/private facilities (please see ‘bedrooms’ section).

Ladythorne is centrally heated throughout with individual controls in each room.

 

Guests Sitting Room and Dining room

 

Guests are welcome in the sitting room at all times.

All tea, coffee and other beverages are served in here (a tray can be provided for a bedroom).

The room has two settees and four armchairs. There is a TV available in this room.

The floor is carpeted and there are two radiators in the room.

Local information, maps, board games and colouring books with pencils are available here.

The dining room has a settee.

There are four tables with ample room around them.

 

Bedrooms

 

All bedrooms are on the first floor and the stairs and rooms are carpeted apart from the four bathrooms, which have polished wooden floor/lino covering.

The en suite facilities comprise of three shower rooms with shower washbasin and toilet.

The water produced by all taps is from our own well, which is a natural spring, (tested regularly) and tastes     wonderful.

There is a hairdryer in each room, an alarm clock radio, a folder of local information and attractions, books and        magazines.

The duvets and pillows are all made of non-allergic hollow fibre.

           The wardrobes contain blankets.  Please ask for extra pillows if required.

 

 

Bedroom One

 

 Bedroom one is to the left in an alcove at the top of the stairs.

This is a family room with an en suite shower room.

           There is a 4ft 6inch double bed (access both sides) and one 3ft single bed (access one side).

 

Bedroom Two

 

Bedroom Two is to the right in an alcove at the top of the stairs.

This is a triple/family room with private shower room situated 3ft outside of the bedroom door.

           There is a 4ft 6inch double bed (access both sides) and two 3ft single beds (access one side).

Bedroom Three

 

Bedroom Three is situated to the left of the front stairs, through two doorways, across the back stairs and at the end of the bathroom corridor.

This is a double room with en suite shower room.

           There are one 4ft 6inch double bed (access both sides).
